Intraocular Lens (IOL) unfurling time varies greatly depending on optic type, temperature, and numerous other factors. Haptic-optic “sticking” also represents an unpredictable, sometimes significant delay in cataract surgery. We characterized the effects of solution temperature and injection cartridge time on IOL unfurling kinetics and made recommendations to optimize IOL insertion in practice.
